Many therefore choose to pick up car hire at Old Kent Road.
Old Kent Road forms part of the old Roman road which connected Dover to Holyhead and was once travelled by pilgrims on route to Canterbury. This status as a sort of 'no man's land' meant that Old Kent Road was once the site of public executions of religious dissenters, with many Protestants and Catholics burned to death here of left in the stocks to starve. With cheap car hire in Old Kent Road you can visit these sights, as well as the historic Thomas a Becket pub which derives its name from this period.
There is quite a bit of decent shopping to be had nowadays on Old Kent Road, with many popular British outlets setting up shop in the past decade. Burgess Park is also located here and it is a great spot from which to travel to central London with car rental in Old Kent Road.
