Barnet Guide

The London borough of Barnet, also known as Chipping Barnet or High Barnet, is in the north central part of the city almost 18kms from central London with car hire in Barnet. Car rental in Barnet is the most ideal way for visitors to explore all of this area's attractions at their own pace.

Cheap car hire in Barnet can be found not only within the borough itself, but throughout greater London. Barnet and its attractions are well worth a detour for visitors to London.

Among Barnet's most famous landmarks is its St John the Baptist church, originally built around 1400 and located on top of Barnet Hill. The church tower is supposedly the highest point between London and the Ural Mountains, but this title is certainly in dispute.

The Barnet area is also home to the Royal Air Force Museum, where more than 100 aircraft, mostly from the British Royal Air Force, are displayed. Another Barnet museum is the Church Farmhouse Museum which features a moving toyshop exhibit for children and a small garden with a maze.

Shoppers will enjoy browsing along Barnet High Street, while College Farm, the last farm in the greater London area, is merely one of the most unique among Barnet's 200 green spaces. One Barnet park, Dollis Valley Green Walk, features a walking path through the heart of the borough and recently received a large grant to make it cleaner and more environmentally friendly.
