Extended Honam Railroad (Daejeon-Mokpo spur) was constructed in 2003 and upgraded to fully electric 2004. This new system shortens the operation time for the Seoul-Mokpo route by 1.53 hours (reduction from 4.42 hours to 2.49 hours). This one significant improvement contributed immensely to the increase of people visiting the region and a reduction in the distribution costs for companies importing into the region.
