Mopko airport is located in the South Korean city of Seoul. It is placed twenty two km's away from Mopko city hall. It was built during the year 1969. Its main function was to facilitate as a stop over between Seoul and Jeju. There are many car hire options in and arouudn this area when on vacation.

The Mopko airport was closed down in the year 1972, owing to technical problems. The airport re-opened again two decades later. Korean air started operating flights on the Mopko Seoul in the year 1992, while Asiana airlines started operating flights by December of the same year. Flights between Mopko and Jeju started a year later (1993), while the Busan Mopko line was serviceable only by late October of the year 1994. Most of the flights stopped running around October 2001, and a bare minimum of two airplanes connecting Mopko and Seoul run each day. The decline in popularity of the airport is due to the following reasons: The glide of the airport is narrow and makes for a difficult landing. Misty weather conditions prevail here for most parts of the year, making the difficult task of safely landing an airplane even more difficult. Visibility is drastically reduced during the mists.

The difficulties faced here have been highlighted by a tragic event, which took place on the 26th of July 1993, when a flight of Asiana airlines carrying about 6 crew members and 110 passengers skidded of the runway due to bad weather and poor visibility. About 68 people were killed and many were injured.

It takes a tragedy for people to see reason. This may be true with Mopko airport which was closed down in October of the year 2007. A new airport named as Muan International Airport was opened. Mopko airport will continue to be fondly remembered by the local residents.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
