Synonymous with motor sports, the beautiful town of Le Mans is conveniently located between the stunning Loire Valley and picturesque Normandy coast, making it a perfect base to explore these regions of France.

During June, the town plays host to an influx of motor racing fans coming to witness the famous 24-hour race. The 24-hour and Bugatti car racing circuits are situated to the south of the town, and, together with the Automobile Museum, are interesting attractions at any time of year. The museum houses a magnificent collection of over 150 cars dating from 1885 and has a variety of acclaimed audiovisual displays.

For a break from car racing, head four km out along the scenic stretch of the Chartes-Paris road to the charming Cistercian Abbaye de l’Epau. The 13th century abbey boasts superb architectural features such as the dormitory, abbey church and scriptorium.

As a result of having to cater annually to hordes of tourists of all backgrounds, the town has plenty of accommodation, restaurants, cafes and bars to suit all tastes and budgets. During June, the nightlife scene is very lively; however, for the rest of the year it is rather subdued and laid back.

The town’s central location makes short excursions to various nearby scenic attractions easy to accomplish. Head to the stunningly beautiful Loire Valley or to the charming coastline of Normandy. Alternatively, just explore the lesser-known routes and discover your own secret piece of French countryside.

Connections to Le Mans can be made from any of France’s major international airports, with shuttle services from the airport to the city both frequent and reliable.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
