Good and reliable company for renting a car abroad
Easy website, easy phone contact when I had questions. Everything well-organized. Friendly staff. Have rented a car through this company several times and have always been very satisfied.

I was not impressed with

I was not impressed with our overall service. We did not receive the car we were promised. It was supposed to be an estate with plenty of boot room and instead it was a compact car. As a result we struggled to fit all of our luggage in. Furthermore, the check in desk had no idea that we needed a child seat. I regard this as the fault of carrentals.co.uk for not informing them properly. They had a spare seat available but it was too big and it didn't feel safe for our 2 year old. There was no other option so we had to take it but it was a constant cause of concern for the duration of the holiday and we probably ended up driving less than we would have liked.

The capital of the Limousin region in the Correze prefecture in southwestern France, Brive is easily reachable by hire car via the A20 motorway between Paris and Toulouse. It is also accessible from the A89 that runs from Bordeaux to Clemont-Ferrand. This city is quintessentially French, from its history and architecture to the food and, of course, the wine.

The city's environs were defined by a Roman bridge that crossed a valley in a bid to connect Bordeaux and Lyon when the Caesars held sway over the land. It was in the 6th century that the city began to take shape, starting with the construction of a basilica in the 6th century. The city was under the control of the Austrian Empire until the 11th century when Brive joined its neighbouring prefectures under guard from the Bishop of Limoges.

The 18th century saw an industrial boom sweep through the city, with much industry coming in and lining the pockets of the locals. The goods were moved with the railways and Brive's connection to the rest of the country was assured.

Today the city is attractive thanks to its good atmosphere, historical sights and great food. Visitors will find no shortage of restaurants to sate their appetites, and no shortage of beds to get cosy in afterwards. There are even cooking courses you can take to try your hand at real French cooking.
