Romsey is a tiny market town in Hampshire, south England. It is a great place to explore in itself, but it also has great links to other areas, with Southampton just eight miles to the northwest and Winchester just 11 miles to the southwest. Many people who arrive here, therefore, choose to explore at their own pace with car hire in Romsey.

Southampton is the best place to go with cheap car hire in Romsey if it's retail therapy you're after, as the city is home to some very large outlets. If it's more of the traditional English atmosphere you want, however, you will do best to stay in the town and use your car rental in Romsey to explore more locally.

Romsey lies on the banks of the River Test, which is a famous spot for trout fishing. This is an activity you can take part in during you stay and there are many tackle shops to choose from in the town. The river is also a pretty spot for picnics if the infamous British summer will allow it.

The top sightseeing spot in the town is Romsey Abbey, which was originally built to house Benedictine nuns. It is open everyday to tourists and also serves as Romsey's parish church. King John's House and Tudor cottage are also worth a look as the alleged hunting lodges of King John of England. Also in Romsey is the majestic Broadlands stately home, Mottisfont Abbey with its fabulous rose collection, and Hillier Gardens and Arboretum. There is also Romsey Rapids swimming pool and gym and the Paultons Park theme park for children.

If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
