The small market town of Macclesfield is located in the eastern region of the county of Cheshire, in the northwest of England. It lies on the banks of the River Bolin, which runs into the River Mersey. Neighbouring counties include Derbyshire, to the east, Staffordshire, to the south, and Greater Manchester, to the north.

The town itself is small and relatively quiet, with its location so close to other major cities that you are never far away from a bit more excitement. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
