Didcot Guide

Didcot is a town situated just 10 miles south of Oxford in the county of Oxfordshire. Didcot started its growth in the 19th century when the construction of the Great Western Railway from London to the West was underway. Car hire in Didcot is a good way to travel the area during your stay.

The railway link at Didcot is an important connection between North-South and East-West lines. To the North there is Oxford and other destinations, while Bristol and London are to the South, along with the South coast. Once a railway town, local businesses have adapted with the atomic energy organisation.

With car rental in Didcot you can easily visit the Harwell International Business Centre. There are six 325ft-cooling towers here that can be seen from miles away, along with a 650ft chimney and 2,000 megawatt station that is coal-fired. Driving around the area you will notice some eye-catching attractions.

There are some great parks, lakes and gardens in Didcot. Edmonds Park is a large park with good facilities, including three tennis courts. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
