In the east of Scotland lies the small town of Cowdenbeath. It is situated 18 miles north of Edinburgh and five miles east of Dunfermline. Cowdenbeath is southwest of Lochgelly station on the railway from Dunfermline to Cupar. Once a mining town, it now supports a range of industries.

We advise you to hire a car during your stay, unless you travel to Cowdenbeath in your own vehicle. The surrounding lands have such fantastic viwes that it is worth having your own vehicle to see it all.

If you like stadiums then Central Park is located in the centre of Cowdenbeath and has an impressive athletics track around the football pitch. It is one of Britain's fastest tracks while the site is the most northerly speedway circuit in Britain. The Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre is next door with a swimming pool and loads of other facilities. Take a walk to the Public Park, situated just north of town and enjoy a picnic.

For shopping you must visit the High Street which runs through the city centre and has a variety of shops, such as the Raith Centre where you will find a pharmacy, pet shop, butchers and café. There's a good choice of food and shopping along the High Street and every Thursday there is a market held in Central Park.

Several motorways run near to Cowdenbeath so it is easy to find. The A92 Fife Regional Road runs from the M90 motorway in Dunfermline to Kirkcaldy. The M90 motorway runs between Edinburgh and Perth. At Bridge Street in the eastern part of town is where the A92 bypasses with an intersection.

Visit Hill of Beath, a gorgeous little village to the east of Cowdenbeath. The village is surrounded by beautiful landscape and hills. To the north of Cowdenbeath is natural landscape that becomes Lochore Meadows Country Park. The park offers a great way to unwind and enjoy recreational activities in the picturesque outdoors.
