Bracknell is a new town serving the needs of a large community, as well as being the major economic centre for numerous smaller town and villages that surround it. There are many leisure opportunities within the town, while its location within the Royal County of Berkshire makes it a good location to explore nearby historical sights such as the magnificent Windsor Castle and Great Deer Park.
Perhaps Bracknell’s greatest attraction lies in the plethora of leisure possibilities both within the town and in the surrounding area. Located at The Point in Bracknell are a 10-screen cinema, 28 lane ten-pin bowling centre, night club and American Bar. The beautiful mansion at South Hill Park, in the Ringmead area of town houses a cinema, recital room and a Cellar Bar which provides an alternative cabaret/rock/jazz venue.
On the outskirts of town at Nine Mile Ride, a few minutes away by car, is the Coral Reef Leisure Pool, a vast water park, and opposite this is 'The Lookout' which houses a tower from which you can see spectacular views across Bracknell’s surrounding coniferous forest. To the west of the town, heading out on the A329(M) is the John Nike leisure centre which is a large sports complex which includes a dry ski slope.
Bracknell is surrounded by many scenic and historic areas, but one should not go without visiting Windsor Great Park, just to the north of the town, home to a 4,500 acre parkland of both wooded and open areas - ideal for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, or even a little horse-riding. Further into the town of Windsor, the magnificent Windsor Castle and historic Eton school should not be missed.
Bracknell is sandwiched between the M3 and M4 motorways, linked by the A329(M). This makes the town less than a 30-minute drive from Heathrow Airport, and approximately 1 hour to Gatwick. Trains depart from London Waterloo station twice hourly (duration 1 hour).
