Visit the beautiful Santuario Della Madonna Del Sasso, which can be found high up on the hillside in Orselina, over looking Locarno and Lake Maggiore. A great sight for taking stunning photographs of the area. It was found during 1480, and is filled with great works of art, such as the Bramantino's Flight into Egypt (1520). Just opposite the basilica is a fabulous museum with the works of the famous Italian painter, Raphael.
A typical walking tour of the town should start at the piazza Grande (main square) and lead through the maze of narrow streets to the old town. The 15th century Castle Visconti houses the Town and Archaeological Museum, displaying many Roman artefacts excavated in the area; while the nearby Pinacoteca Casa Rusca Museum displays contemporary works of art.
