Located in northeast Spain, Reus Airport is the gateway into the coastal region of Spain. The airport is less than two miles from the city centre of Reus and just under five miles from the city of Tarragona. Many travellers use this airport as an alternative to Barcelona Airport, which is about 30 miles north along the coast. Car hire in Reus Airport is a convenient and easy option. Otherwise, visitors can use buses or taxis to get to Reus or Tarragona.

Self-driving to explore the coastal areas of Spain is popular. Travellers can choose from leading international suppliers, such as Avis, Europcar, Goldcar Rental and Hertz. Car rental desks are conveniently located in the Arrivals area. Passengers should note that some of the operators are not open during the low winter season.

Driving
Drivers in Spain need to carry these documents: vehicle registration (or car hire documents), insurance papers and driver’s licence. All occupants must wear a seatbelt. Children under the age of 12 cannot sit in the front seat and children under three must use a child seat. All vehicles must have two warning triangles as well as reflective vests – make sure your hire car has these items in the boot. Petrol stations on motorways and in the cities are often open 24 hours, but many in rural areas close at night and during lunch time hours (12:00 to 15:00).

Transport

Self-driving is a good option from Reus Airport as car hire is readily available and convenient, especially for exploring the rest of Spain’s coastal area. To access Reus and nearby Tarragona, passengers can also use the bus or taxi service from the airport.

Trains
There is no train station at Reus Airport. The closest railway station is Camp de Tarragona Station. The train network is operated by RENFE and provides links to all major Spanish cities, such as Barcelona, Madrid and Pamplona. A regular train ticket to Barcelona from Tarragona costs roughly £5.

Taxis
Taxis are an easy transportation option and are available right outside the terminal building via Union Taxis Reus. However, taxis can be expensive for long distances. The taxi journey to Reus takes about 10 minutes and to Tarragona about 15 minutes.

Buses
There are several bus options from the airport. Reus Transport offers bus connections from the airport to Reus city centre and Reus Railway Station via bus route 50. Buses depart once an hour between 08:05 and 20:05, with tickets costing about £2 and the journey taking 25 minutes. Ryanair has its own shuttle bus service which coincides with flight arrivals. The bus runs from the airport to Barcelona and takes just over 1 hour. Exact bus times are available from Ryanair. The bus company Bus Plana offers connections from the airport to Cambrils, stopping in La Pineda, Salou and Vilaseca. Bus times shift according to flight arrivals. The trip to Cambrils takes about 45 minutes and costs roughly £6.

Terminals
The airport has Arrivals and Departures terminals. Reus Airport primarily handles budget and seasonal flights to this coastal area of Spain and services over one million passengers a year. The main airline is Ryanair, which has regular flights to Bristol, East Midlands and London-Stansted. Other airlines are primarily seasonal in nature and include Flybe, Jet2.com, Jetairfly and Thomas Cook Airlines. Links are primarily to major European and UK cities.

Parking
There are three car parks at the airport offering short- and long-term parking at affordable rates. The P1 car park is for rental vehicles. The P2 car park is located adjacent to the terminal building and has parking for 546 vehicles. Daily maximum parking rates are around £8. The P4 and P5 car parks open up when P2 is full and are located roughly a five-minute walk from the terminal.

Accessibility
The airport is accessible to passengers with reduced mobility and special assistance can be provided upon request. Wheelchair and assistance requests should be made ahead of time through your airline. The car parks have disabled persons’ parking spaces.

Restaurants and Bars
Passengers have the choice of several eateries and cafés at the airport. There is a Medas cafeteria in both the Arrivals zone and passenger-only Departures area. In the Departures area, before security check, there is the Food Gallery, which provides a range of snacks and hot foods. In the passenger-only Departures area, there is the Bier Garden, which serves German specialities.

VIP Lounges
There is no VIP lounge at Reus Airport.

Money and ATMs
There are ATMs in both the Arrivals and Departures terminals as well as foreign exchange services.

Shopping
Passengers can enjoy both retail and duty-free shopping at Reus Airport. The choices are not big, but most essential travel items and souvenirs can be purchased here. In the Departures terminal, there is a Divers outlet which sells books, souvenirs and travel essentials. In the passenger-only area of the airport, there is ample duty-free shopping.
