Sancti Petri
Sancti Petri is an old village that is located in the northern region of La Barrosa beach, which is six kilometres from Chiclano. It is a charming fishing village that has been abandoned. However, past the old village is a contemporary harbour called the Sancti Petri Island that houses about 700 fisherman's boat. A yacht club, school for windsurfing and sailing is also a part of the landscape of the island. The Bongo bar and a few restaurants are popular places visited by the locals and visitors. The deserted Castle of Sancti Petri guards the village and serves as an interesting historical monumental reminder for the residents that live there. The island sits far south of San Fernando.
The Hercules temple is one of the most famous and most visited sanctuaries there. The weather can be quite windy at times, but for the most part, this island enjoys great weather all year round. Chiclano nearby is a hot spot for water sports. The visitors have the option of tasting the island's Andalucia cuisine. There is also a choice of Mexican, Italian and Chinese food, as well as the exotic seafood. Night life in the island is pretty conservative and mellow. You can enjoy the romantic villages nearby of Jerez and Cadiz for a late evening stroll and other fine cuisine.
