Mijas Guide

Guide

Mijas is located high up on the mountain side overlooking Mijas Costa and Fuengirola. Many visit the town for its magnificent views of the coast and mountainous woodlands. The streets consist of beautifully layed cobbled stones, winding through narrow lanes where cars are prohibited. Houses are built on terraces, with red tile roofs and quaint archways covered with colourful flowers.

Explore Mijas

Visit the villages' two Mudejar churches, the sanctuary of the patron saint of Mijas, dating back to 850. If you like old buildings then be sure to visit the hermitage of El Puerto, which can be viewed from any point in the village.

There are beautiful clean beaches at La Cala for tourists to relax and sunbathe. For beach activities there are jet skiis, water skis and parasailing. For some quality entertainment go to the main square around 12:00pm in Mijas and watch the Flamenco shows. You will even be supplied with a glass of Malaga wine, for free, courtesy of the Mijas Tourist Office.

With car hire travellers can drive to the Riviera del Sol which has lovely restaurants and bars to enjoy a relaxing evening.

From Mijas head to Ronda, a beautiful village high up on the mountains, on the otherside of Mijas. If you like views you'll like Ronda. A magnificent site to see here is the plunging river gorge, dividing both medieval and 18th century features of the town. To see these sights we highly advise travellers to opt for car hire as buses do not service this area and taxis are pricey.

Transport

Malaga Airport is located a short half and hour's drive north along the coast to Mijas. The journey by car is mainly by motorway and very straightforward. For transportation throughout Mijas use the traditional donkey-taxis, all lined up along the central plaza. It's fun and an experience you wont forget.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

 What is a worry-free label?

 How can I change or cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less).
