Heron City Barcelona Guide
Heron City is a family-friendly place, a unique three-level entertainment complex that is rapidly becoming a major attraction and meeting place on the Meridiana, the key road passing through Barcelona. Featuring a variety of multi-colored fountains and constantly changing lights and graphics, the building housing this amphitheatre-style attraction is visible for miles around.
Heron City is a fully integrated entertainment center offering something for everybody. A combination of flamboyant Hollywood and the essence of European culture; entry into the center is free. Visitors can stroll and view the attractions; stop to eat at a variety of restaurants and snack bars; drink and be entertained, all in one convenient place. There are coffee and tea shops, a bar, ice-cream parlors and fast-food restaurants all located within the center. There are also some restaurants, many of them serving Italian cuisine, like Frankie & Benny's and San Marzano (a division of PizzaExpress designed to serve a higher class market).
A variety of leisure activities are incorporated within the center, including a multiplex cinema; a state of the art fitness center; an arcade with bowling and the most advanced virtual reality simulators and games and a never-ending choice of restaurants, bars and cafes.
Heron City does not stay the same, however and there is a constantly changing offering of attractions and shows designed to appeal to everyone in the family. These include a daily water and light show, street theatre, live music, children's entertainers and a variety of cultural events.
The complex even offers nearby lodging at the Hotel Ibis, a modern facility that offers all the amenities for a great family vacation. As Heron City's Big Fun' centre, the hotel provides a variety of children's games and rides on the premises, along with bowling alleys and a pool hall for adults. A variety of special events are held, including afternoon dance classes, painting workshops and magician and circus skills classes. There is also a ten-meter swimming pool onsite, as well as a comprehensive fitness center.
Heron City is easily accessible by major roadways, as well as bus and underground train. A great place to spend the day, or even a week, Heron City will appeal to the family holiday-makers looking for something unique to do while on holiday.
