Arriving passengers can maximise convenience by taking advantage of car hire, which allows for a quick drive to great beaches such as Las Salinas (25 minutes) as well as to the fantastic Natural Park of Cabo de Gata Nijar (35 minutes). Alternatively, bus service to central Almeria is available year round via Route 20 (Airport-Centre) and taxis are available 24 hours.

Driving
Road rules and safety laws in Spain are similar to those elsewhere in Western Europe. Front and rear seatbelts are compulsory, speed limits are strictly enforced and fines are issued on the spot. Driving on the right can be stressful for British drivers, although Almeria’s uncrowded roads make driving here less stressful than in other regional destinations such as Barcelona, Malaga and Valencia. Be prepared for a number of roundabouts between the airport and the city centre on the Autovia de Aeropuerto (AL-12).

Public transport options from Almeria Airport are limited; self-driving passengers can reach the city centre in just 20 minutes. See below for alternative options.

Buses
Surbus public buses run to the city centre every 50 minutes between 07:30 and 22:30 on weekdays and between 07:25 and 22:20 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Travel time is typically around 35 minutes to Plaza de la Estación. Single tickets typically cost around £0.70, while 10-trip passes cost around £5.40 and monthly passes cost roughly £23.50. Connections are regularly available to Granada, Jaen, Malaga and several other destinations in the region from Plaza de la Estación.

Taxis
Radio-Taxi Almeria and Tele-Taxi Almeria are available directly outside the Arrivals hall; fares are higher between 22:00 and 06:00, and during weekends and public holidays. Extra charges apply for luggage over 60cm in length and all trips to or from the airport entail a supplementary fee of around £3.20.

Trains

Parking
There are two car parks located at the airport – one for cars (P1) and another for buses. Both are situated directly to the north of the terminal building, with the former located on the other side of the passenger drop-off area. Car parking costs are around £0.60 per half-hour.

Wi-Fi
Passengers can use the airport’s wireless internet for a fee. Service is available in marked areas of the terminal via the ‘movistar’ network.

Information Services
Travellers can find a tourism information desk in the Arrivals area of the terminal building, while an Aena Airports information services desk is located in the Departures hall near the entrance doors.

Accessibility

Restaurants and Bars
Abedas Air offers self-service dining in the public area of the Departures zone from 06:00 to 22:00 daily. Items on offer include sandwiches, salads, pastries, filled rolls, coffees and a wide array of other beverages. Alternatively, head to On Time Breakfood in the boarding area from 06:00 to 22:00 for a similar array of fresh self-service foods and drinks, alongside panoramic views of the airfield.

VIP Lounges
There are currently no public VIP lounges available at Almeria Airport.

Money and ATMs
Basic banking services and ATMs are on offer via 4B (Banco de Andalucía) and Servired (Cajamar) in the Arrivals area.

Shopping
Travellers departing for international destinations can find a wide selection of duty-free goods at Aldeasa in the boarding area or at Dutiifrii on the public side of security. Items on offer include cosmetics, fragrances, tobacco products, souvenirs and sprits. There is a pharmacy on the Departures level which is open from 08:00 to 22:00 daily.
