The airport is a hub for Samara Airlines. From this international airport, travelers can fly to destinations including: Prague, Moscow, Frankfurt, Novosibirsk and Tblisi. Airlines currently providing flights from this terminal include Lufthansa and Aeroflot.

Samara airport is home to several shops, restaurants and services, including car hire. Booking your car hire at the airport is an easy process. You will need to provide your driving license, passport and a valid credit to the booking agent so your request can be processed.

The modern city of Samara is located 22 miles south of Samara Airport. As you drive through the suburbs in your car hire, you will no doubt encounter potholes which can make this a bumpy ride. Fortunately, the roads of the city centre are of a higher standard.

Samara can be found perched on the eastern banks of the Volga River. At the heart of the city is the Kuybyshev Square, Europe's largest public square. During the days of the Soviet Union the square hosted large military displays. Nowadays, it is home to a large opera house.

Just south west of the square is Josef Stalin's bunker. Constructed during World War II, it was designed to house the government and military operations if Moscow fell to Germany.

The town's most popular attraction, of course is the Volga. It offers beautiful views and a sense of calm. Many enjoy picnics on its banks or sunset walks. Ferries offer journeys up the river for tourists. A short distance from the river is the Zhigulevsky brewery. Here, you can enjoy a factory tour and sample Samara's most popular tipple.
