Maia is a parish city, which holds seventeen parishes, in the Porto Metropolitan Area of Portugal. It is located on the South West coast of Portugal. Travel to Maia, Portugal is rather stress-free with an international airport located in the parish of Moreira, which is one of the 17 located in Maia. The name of the airport is Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport.

Maia is rather large for a parish, including a population of more than 120,000 inhabitants in an 84 kilometre square area. Therefore, many tourists may not be able to tour the city on foot, but luckily there are car rental services which allow you to discover the parish at your own pace in style and comfort. These car hire services offer the traveller the opportunity to rent a car for a specific length of time in order to visit the places he or she wants to go without the hassle of learning complicated bus or train routes or spending money on taxis.

Maia is rather highly developed compared to other Parishes in Portugal. One main export of this area is its tea. You can even visit and take a tour of the tea fields and the Gorrenea Tea factory close to where you are staying.

Maia is full of fun and exciting places to visit for everyone. You can visit the Church of Santa Maria which precedes the founding of Portugal and has Romanesque architecture for architecture lovers. You can also admire the Statue of Lidador which is pays homage to Goncalo Mendes de Maia who was a prominent knight who fought for Portuguese independence. The statue was erected and inaugurated on July 9th 1984.

To enjoy a bit of Maian culture, visit the Historical and Ethnographical Museum of Maia, which documents Maia's history and culture and also exhibits long and short temporary collections. For the kids, there is an amazing zoo which houses over 600 animals of 200 different species and offers the best reptile house in all of Portugal. There is also an exciting and fun Seal Show that lasts for about an hour all week. Or if all you want to do is relax, visit the Parque das Fontes, which is absolutely breathtaking. It is a lovely park full of blooming flowers and exquisite fountains.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

 What is a worry-free label?

 How can I change or cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less).
