Where the Gardunha mountains meet the Cova da Beira plains lies the ancient city of Fundao. A region of peaceful and fertile countryside sheltered beneath the peaks of two majestic mountain ranges, the Cova da Beira valley is still the agricultural haven it's been since the days of antiquity. Featuring an array of architectural styles from Gothic to Baroque, Fundao offers visitors a choice of pursuits both cultural and natural.

Although archaeological finds in nearby São Brás Mount speak of early Celtic and Roman inhabitation, Fundao didn't come to the fore until settled by Spanish Jews in the early 16th century. Rising to become an important commercial and industrial centre, evidence of its glory days live on in the city's beautifully preserved examples of Gothic, Baroque, and Manueline architecture.

Aside from stunning scenery, Fundao is a paradise for outdoor sport enthusiasts. Rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, paintball, camping and canoeing are all just a short drive from town, while less active visitors will appreciate shopping excursions to the surrounding villages, or relaxed strolls through scenic, forest trails.

Fed by the picturesque Zêzere river, the region produces abundant cherry, peach, and olive groves, along with plateaus of vineyards bearing the rich tasting grape of Portuguese wines. Local produce paired with seafood brought in from the coast create a sumptuous array of local specialities and delicacies. Most often accompanied by a fine selection of the region's full-bodied wines, meals are savoured like coffee in the city's colourful cafés.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.

 What is a worry-free label?
