Barreiro is located in the district of Setubal in Portugal, a vibrant area with a plethora of historical venues. Setubal also acts as a convenient gateway to nearby areas where you can laze around on the beaches, admire nature or explore other historic cities.

The town of Setubal itself is very charming, boasting a number of gardens and quaint little shops. Several pedestrian streets allow visitors to walk anywhere they want without having to watch out for cars.

The Cathedral Santa Maria da Graca should be on your must-see list. This 16th century church isn't only beautiful from the outside. Walking inside, visitors can marvel at exquisite tiles from the 18th century. Another church worth visiting is the Igreja de Jesus, with magnificent Gothic columns and pink stone.

Those into museums should head to the Museu de Setubal with a wide range of paintings and artefacts. A part of the museum is dedicated to Bocage, an 18th century romantic poet. Interesting items from various periods from the region can be found at the Museu de Arqueologia e Etnografia. Also, an elegant Pousada is not to be missed. This luxurious venue was once the Castelo de Seo Filipe, which was built to defend the port in 16th century.

Travelling to the nearby areas by hire car is also a good way to explore the region. The Estuario do Sado nature reserve, not far from the city, features many kinds of plants, small forests and lovely lagoons. Beach lovers can head to Portinho da Arrabida, a cove beach, and walk up the slope to enjoy panoramic views of the surroundings. To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
