Alvor Guide
Portimao is in the District of Faro on Portugal's southern coast. It is home to several interesting and romantic natural stone formations visible from its prominent Praia da Rocha beach, the cornerstone of the beach resort traffic for this community. This area was once known as Vila Nova de Portimao until 1924, when it was incorporated. It now is home to forty five thousand residents in just the city proper. Alvor is its closest neighbor, sharing in all of the local attractions.
If you were to take your car hire out to examine Alvor and Portimao, you would find yourself, not only admiring the Praia da Rocha beach, but also the Praia da Vau. The streets remain narrow here, and the buildings are reflective of the time when this was a fishing village. The history still cries out from behind the new structures, and though the cities continue to bloom into contemporary spectacles, they also remain well planted as a tribute to the ancient villages that they gained their roots from.
