Scalea Guide

The town of Scalea is found on the Tyrrhenian coast in the south of Italy. It is a tremendous place for its contrast in terrain from the beautiful beaches on the sea to its mountainous backdrop of Pollino National Park easily accessible by car rental in Scalea. Everything from water parks and museums are in the town to entertain the whole family on a holiday.

The Old Town area is still steeped in history with its impressive structures and remains of a once boundary wall. Further down and into the bay is more modern with new hotels and restaurants that adorn the beach line. The town history only goes back to 5th century BC but recent finding in an excavation dates it back a lot further.

Using a car hire in Scalea visitors can visit the national park and take a great tour around and discover hidden caves, explore the wildlife protected here and enjoy beautiful landscape. Rafting on the river is a good excursion and is available for all skill levels.

Cheap car hire in Scalea is a way to travel further along the coastline if the beach in town is too busy. There are many quiet spots, but not all will have restaurants and bars for some time away from the sun.

There are a good mix restaurants in the town offering all sort from the traditional pasta to more exotic dishes from around the world. The area is particularly busy in the summer months with parties and discos for tourists open until the small hours.
