What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

A small town in Bari Province, Monopoli is coastal community that make an excellent alternative to busier Bari. It is most convenient for visitors with car rental in Monopoli, as this affords easy access to major sites and commercial districts throughout the region.

Monopoli has plenty of historic sites itself. Outstanding among these is the Castle of Charles V, a 16th-century fortress that was converted to a jail in the 1800s. St Stephen's Castle on the coast is another fine site, along with the Cathedral Basilica and Monopoli's Palazzo Palmieri.

With cheap car hire in Monopoli travelling between these sites is particularly convenient. The city centre is compact enough to see on foot, but there are many points of interest in the surrounding countryside. A set of popular beaches to the south of the city are too far away to reach on foot.

Monopoli Railway Station is within walking distance of the town centre, with the railway skirting the inland side of town. It is possible to get to travel north to Bari train station in around 30 minutes, and then across Bari town to the airport terminal in as much time again.

Car hire in Monopoli offers a more convenient means of getting to Bari. The SS16 is the major coastal highway connecting these two cities, and total driving time to the airport is around 50 minutes.
