Foligno is a major industrial city in central Italy located along the banks of the Topino River at the point where it flows from the Apennines into the Clitunno river system. This ancient city lies in the region of Umbria in the Perugia province. With an area covering 263 kms, this town is home to over 53,000 citizens. It is famous for its school of paintings, found during the 15th century and is also an important rail centre.

Foligno was a relatively small city hundreds of years ago and was founded by the Umbrians, then became a part of Italy in 1860. Foligno has had its share of earthquakes and has also recovered from them.

The town of Foligno is accessible by road from four cities, Perugia, Trevi, Spello, Bevagna. The airport of Perugia Sant'Egidio is at a distance of 22.94Km from Foligna city. Being an important industrial centre it is also accessible by trains and is an important station in the Via Flaminia.
