What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

Empoli, about 20 miles southwest of Florence, is located on a plain nearby the Arno River. The mid-sized town is a major commercial and industrial centre in Tuscany. Empoli is famous for its glassware products and dress shops.

The town is known for its busy night markets, easily explored with cheap car hire at Empoli. Particularly during Lights of the Town Festival (July), many shops in the town are open until midnight. Various open-air activities are staged at the town centre during this time, including cinema exhibitions, concerts and theatre performances.

Aside for its glassware and dress shopping, the city is also well-known for a number of historical monuments. The splendid Piazza Farinata degli Uberti, also known as Piazza dei Leoni, marks the town centre. Beautiful porticos encircle the piazza, with a neo-Classical marble fountain standing at the centre.

Car rental at Empoli is the most convenient way to tour around the piazza. Overlooking the Piazza dei Leoni is the imposing St Andrew's College, a previous Romanesque church built in the 11th century. Other historical attractions near the piazza include the magnificent Palazzo Ghibellino, Church of St Stephen and Busoni Museum.

Nearby countryside churches can also be quickly visited with car hire at Empoli. The beautiful Church of Santa Maria a Ripa, a 16th century Franciscan church, is located in the western part of the town. Another impressive Romanesque church in Pontorme, the Church of San Michele, is located at a short distance from Empoli's town centre.
