Car rentals are great. Love the website, easy to use, great offers and if cancel 48hrs before always get money back. Love car rentals and will use again/always use. I’ll just avoid Italy car rent as worst experience ever had hiring a car and done it loads over the years.

Located close to the centre of the city Bolzano, is the Bolzano Airport. It offers mainly domestic flights to Milan and Rome, but charter flights (Inghams, Falk-Tours and Lauda Air) are also available to European destinations during winter. The ticket office is open from 6am to 7pm, and if you only have one small item of hand luggage you can take advantage of their Tele-CheckIn service, meaning you can catch a flight quickly and easily.

There are no rail stations close to the airport, but it is a short 20 minute ride by bus or taxi to the trains so if you can't drive and park, then bus and train is the way to go. If you are planning to drive, there are 20 short stay (less than an hour) places available, and 50 long stay places, both free of charge (but not controlled, so make sure you take your valuables with you).

If you are travelling domestic, you need to be checked in at least 20 minutes before your plane leaves, and international flights require you to be there at least an 285 minutes - but in both cases make sure to be at the airport at least an hour before your flight leaves. As with any other modern-day airport, please check you are not taking on board any illegal or unsafe items, and plan to be there on time!

In 1672 the eastern wing was destroyed by fire, and this has not been rebuilt and by 1858 it had fallen into such a state of disrepair that a section of it simply crumbled away. In the 1880, the Emperor of Austria donated the funds to have it restored, and it was then donated to Bolzano. It was restored again in the 1990s.
