Szombathely Guide

Szombathely is the oldest recorded city in Hungary. It is located in the north-western area of Hungary, close to the Austrian border. With such a long history, this is a great area to explore with car rental in Szombathely.

The city of Szombathely has a laid back relaxed feel and for those interested in history, the town has plenty of historic sites to explore. The city was founded by Claudius I in 43 AD although many of the Roman sites were destroyed by the Huns in the 5th century.

Today the city is better known for its wine, fruit and honey. Travelling around the wineries and fruit farms is easy with cheap car hire in Szombathely. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
