Sivota is a quiet village on the Epirus coast of north-western Greece. It has remained relatively unspoilt due to low-key tourism, and is the perfect holiday destination for people looking for calmness and serenity. Lying on the sea's edge with a magnificent mountainous backdrop, Sivota offers the peace-loving visitor a unique array of rocky coves, secluded islets, and sandy bays.
The village has remained traditional and has a definite Greek character to it. In fact, many of the tourists who come here are Greeks, not foreigners. So it is no surprise that its sandy beaches spring to life on weekends and on Greek holidays. Sivota's harbour is picturesque, dotted with cafs, restaurants, and small shops. A typical holiday evening would include relaxing in one of the fish taverns while watching the magical sunset.
Three of Sivota's magnificent beaches are just a short walk away from the harbour. Mega Ammos Beach, with its long stretch of white sand, also provides some beach facilities. To explore the exquisite coastline, wooded islets, and isolated beaches, it is probably best to rent a motorboat or hire an inexpensive water-taxi. There are also several boat excursions to the nearby islands of Corfu and Paxos.
Because Sivota's bus service is quite limited and there are only a few taxis in the village, it is advisable that you hire a car. This would also allow for trips to some of the other villages of the Epirus region. For example, Parga village is an enchanting old town, famous for its labyrinth of small lanes.
Sivota is reachable by plane from the airports of Preveza or Corfu. It is also accessible by bus from the station of Igoumenitsa, the capital of the Thesprotia province.
