Kassel main railway station was built in 1991, and immediately became the city's most important railway. Today, it services intercity connections, as well as regional and countrywide routes. The station is also connected to Europe's ICE network. Car hire at Kassel Rail Station is available for those who require transportation upon arrival at the station.

Situated in the Hessen state in northern Germany, Kassel boasts a population of 200,000 people. The current city is all new buildings constructed in the 1950s, as most of the old city was obliterated during WWII. The newer regions of the city are well connected to other areas of Germany via the German interstate system, the autobahn. Routes servicing the Kassel area are A 7, 44, and 49. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
