Ismaning is a municipality near Munich, Germany located in the state of Bavaria. It is situated in the southern region of the country. Ismaning comes under the Upper Bavaria administrative region in the northern part of the München district. Covering an area of 40.19 km�, this municipality accommodates over 14,858 at an elevation of 490m.

Ismaning can be reached by road, rail or airways and is accessible from some major airports. Metros are available to access the nearby regions. The Ismaning train station is at a distance of 0.35Km whereas the München Franz Josef airport is farer at a distance 16.12Km. The B471 federal road can be taken to reach this municipality.

Tube stations or metros are popular in Ismaning which is a prime means of transport within the city and to nearby areas. Munich is just a one hour ride in the metro from Ismaning. Private taxis are also available for hiring purposes. Garching-Hochbrück is the tube station of Ismaning.

Being a municipality, there are no major site-seeing spots, tourist attractions o historical monuments. This municipality is well known for its restaurants and the culinary skills of the cooks here who are capable of producing traditional recipes with authentic taste.

Guides are not a requirement in this municipality which does not boast of many tourist spots. The municipality can be looked around with the help of locals.

The municipality of Ismaning has chilly winters with an average temperature of -5�C and summer temperatures can soar up to 20�C. Ismaning is a municipality in Barvaria, not too far from Munich (about 7 kilometres), and has good transport links to Munich via road and rail. And with the airport in Munich, flying into Ismaning is as easy as a short taxi ride. It is also linked well with the major highway system, and both tram and train stations are plentiful. There is also a very good bus run to Munich, so it is easy for the tourist to get there and back.

Ismaning has its beginnings back in the 6th and 7th century, with the name Ismaning first appearing in 809 when a local Bishop settled a legal dispute. The River Isar runs through Ismaning, and has plenty of fish so for the fisherperson, there is plenty to do water-side. Originally getting its income from agriculture, nowadays the city is in media production, and has a transmitter for the Barvarian Radio. The tower is about 171 metres tall. The offices for Radio Free Europe are also located in Ismaning.

There are many things to do and see in Ismaning, among them Castle Ismaning: built in 1530, it now serves as the council town hall. At one time the residence of the stepson of Napoleon and his wife (the daughter of the Barvarian King Maximilian I), the castle was later owned by the city of Munich.

The war memorial in Castle Street is a two-metre high stone statue featuring lions and the names of the dead and injured from the war.

Ismaning also offers a Waldorf School (in Germany, Waldorf Schools are state-recognised alternative schools), complete with primary and secondary schools, a gymnasium, and kitchen.
