Toulouse Airport is perfectly located for tourists wanting to visit the Toulouse and Blagnac areas of France as it is located a mere 3.6 miles northwest of Toulouse city centre. With numerous bus routes servicing the airport, it is easy to get to surrounding areas. However, taking advantage of car rental in Toulouse Airport allows visitors to both set their own schedule and experience all that the area has to offer.

Who to Book With
Sixt, Hertz and Europcar can be found alongside Avis, National and Budget in the Departures area of the airport. All firms can be contacted prior to arrival to make a booking. This means that you can simply land and collect your vehicle from the front of the terminal without any hassle.

Need to Know Essentials
In order to collect a pre-booked vehicle, you will need to show the following documentation:

- Your driver’s licence, both the paper and ID sections
- The credit card used when making the reservation
- A passport or utility bill
- Confirmation of booking, usually a reference number

Driving
The main things to be aware of are that driving is on the right and that parking restrictions are rigorously enforced. There are hefty on-the-spot fines for anyone parked illegally. There are many blue zones in the cities and towns. Parking in these zones is allowed providing you purchase a blue disc from any shop, tourist office or police station. Many petrol pumps accept cards, but it is best to carry cash just in case as foreign cards are not always accepted. All drivers must carry a warning triangle and a reflective jacket in their vehicle, not in the boot, in case of breakdown. Tollbooths are used across the country and although they require drivers to pay to use the roads, they are well maintained and often the quickest way to get around.

Transport

As there is no train service at the airport, passengers who chose not to self-drive need to choose between taxi or bus service to their destination. Buses do not run throughout the night so late arrivers need to opt for a taxi or car hire.

Trains
Although there is no train station at the airport, the Flybus airport shuttle service takes passengers directly to Matabiau train station in Toulouse where it is possible to find SNCF rail services to destinations across the country including high-speed services to Lille, Bordeaux and Lyon.

Taxis
Taxis are located on the ground floor, at the entrance to gates C and D. A number of local companies service the airport 24 hours. Fares are fixed and are raised after 21:00.

Buses
There are a number of bus services that include Toulouse Airport on their route. Bus numbers 25, 30, 66 and 88 are all operated by Tisseo and run from a number of destinations, such as Blagnac Emile Zola, Grenade and Toulouse St Cyprian. Fares start at around £1.50 but depends on final destination.

Facilities

Terminals
There is one main terminal that handles both arrivals and departures. With more than 80 direct flights to a huge range of destinations, and just as many arrivals, it isn’t surprising that the facility services six million passengers a year. The airport facilities are adept at dealing with this thoroughfare.

Parking
There is a huge amount of parking available for customers wishing to park their vehicle here. The P1 car park is around a one-minute walk away from the terminal, with an electronic system that guides drivers to available spaces. P2 is used as the long-stay car park and operates a similar system. Prices range from £1 for 30 minutes to £140 for 23 days.

Wi-Fi
There is Wi-Fi in both the business lounge and the departures lounge which customers can use free of charge.

Information Services
There are a number of small information booths located throughout the terminal, in both the arrivals and departures sections. Here, passengers can get help with lost baggage, local events information and hotel reservations.

Accessibility
The airport complies with European laws, meaning there are a number of lifts and ramps for easy access to the terminal. There are disabled persons’ facilities, wheelchair hire and disabled persons’ parking bays. For more help or information, visit the information desk upon arrival.

Restaurants and Bars
There is a wide range of cafés, restaurants and bars available for passengers. 8 Ciel offers panoramic views of the airport runway as well as a wide variety of meals and beverages. Café Bacquié offers quick snacks and bites, along with a variety of hot and cold drinks. Taste’n’fly offers similar services.

Money and ATMs
There are ATMs throughout the terminal, a number of which dispense euro and pounds sterling. Most accept foreign-issued cards. For those needing further services, there are exchange facilities in both the Arrivals and Departures sections of the terminal; however, these services are not 24 hours.

Shopping
There is a huge range of duty-free available for customers wishing to purchase items such as tobacco, sprits, wines, confectionery and cosmetics. There are also a number of local brands, such as Spirit of Toulouse, which offer a selection of local products which make for ideal souvenirs.
