Explore Deauville

There are plenty of activities to do on Deauville's beaches, such as a walk along the Planches, a mile-long wooden duckboard pathway which runs along the back of the colourful beach. The annual Grand Prix attracts hordes of tourists in August, as does the 'American Film Festival' which takes place in September.

The big spenders might want to have a flutter on the horses,or gamble at the casino, or for total relaxation and comfort you might want to spoil yourself with the sports facilities they have on offer. Take a dip in the sea and relax at the privately owned huts that adjoin the beach.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink along the coast of Deauville, ranging from the high priced resorts to some more modest places on the beachfront. There's also a market in Deauville which opens on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Further afield, 15kms down the coast is the chic town of Trouville. It is not quite as touristy as its neighbour. However, it still remains a lovely resort and attracts a myriad of visitors to its many bars and restaurants.

By air
The nearest airport to Deauville is Deauville's Saint-Gatien Airport, located approximately 8kms east of Deauville. By train
There are six to ten daily trains from Paris's Gare St-Lazare (duration: 2 hours). The station is located to the south, between Trouville and Deauville. On your arrival there will many taxi's and buses.

The bus service Verts du Calvados serves the region of Normandy along the coast from Caen to Le Havre.

By car
You will need to take the A13 west to Pont L'Evêque from Paris, then travel east along the N177 until you reach Deauville.
