The historic Norman city of Caen is the capital of the Lower Normandy region, and home to one of the newest ferry ports serving the English Channel. The terminal is located nine miles (15kms) north of the city itself, and ferries bound for England leave from the Ouisterham dock.

Within the modern terminal facility you will find a range of amenities from ATM machines, bureaux de change, restaurants and cafs. There is good wheelchair access throughout the terminal, but passengers with special needs should inform the relevant authorities before arrival.

Brittany Ferries connects the north coast of France with Portsmouth in southern England with its Transmanche ferries, with the trip taking about six hours. The voyage is done overnight, with arrival times on either side of the Channel at 06:30.

Both the English and the French ports on this route are situated a convenient distance from both countries' capitals. It's a two hour drive from Portsmouth to London, and Paris is about three and a half hour drive from the coast.

Caen is easily reachable by hire car, with motorways to Paris and both east and west passing directly south of the city.
