Beaune is a commune and town in eastern France, situated close to Dijon on the Cote d'Or in the Bourgogne region. The town is a lively, prosperous and charming place for art buffs, wine lovers and gastronomes.

Beaune lies on the TGV high-speed line with direct connections to Paris in the northwest and Lyon in the south. There are also regional services to Dijon and Mcon. Close to the city centre, the Beaune Rail Station contains adequate passenger amenities including toilets, ATMs, refreshment stands and newsagents.

UK tourists can travel to Beaune by catching the Eurostar. This leaves London's Waterloo Station and travels directly to the romantic city of Paris where there will be a connecting train taking you to Beaune Rail Station. Alternatively, ferry passengers coming from Dover can go by rail from Calais or Boulogne to Paris.

Beaune's delightful historic heart is a pleasant spot to explore on foot. Among the highlights are the Hotel Dieu, a must-see, and the Hospices, charity hospitals for the needy founded in 1442.
