Driving
In the US, speed limits tend to vary state to state. For built-up areas in Colorado, make sure to keep driving speed at 25mph to 30mph only. For interstate highways, the limit is 65mph to 70mph. When driving along open mountain roads, keep to speeds of up to 40mph. Seatbelts are required for those in front of the vehicle and for children in the vehicle. Colorado's mountainous roads in winter can make for some challenging drives. Plan your route ahead of time and factor in the weather. When roads are slick, it is recommended that you slow down. If driving in the thick of winter, make sure your tyres can handle snowy conditions.

Transport

Montrose Airport is an easy two-mile distance from the town it services—Montrose. The town itself is small enough to navigate on foot. For destinations and attractions outside of town, the best thing to do is to rent a vehicle from any of the car rental firms in town or at Montrose Regional. The airport is connected to the town via US Route 50, which for this section of the highway is called North Townsend Avenue. From here, US Route 550 continues south to Telluride, 68 miles away. Montrose is not served by any railway line.

Taxis
Taxi cabs and shuttle services are available at the airport taking passengers not only to Montrose town but also to other areas within the Uncompahgre Valley region. Private and shared vehicles can be hired prior to arrival or at the airport. Greyhound buses operate to this corner of southwest Colorado. The bus line has an office in town at 1360 North Townsend Avenue.

Terminals
Montrose Regional is a small airport, mostly handling seasonal flights. Most of the arrivals come during winter time as visitors use the airport to access the ski slopes of southwest Colorado. The airport has one terminal building where all of its facilities are located. Two airlines operate all year: United Express to Denver and Allegiant Air to Oakland and Phoenix. Seasonal airlines include American Airlines which flies to Dallas, Delta Air Lines to Atlanta and United to Denver, Houston-Intercontinental and Newark.

Parking
Short-term parking and long-term parking are available at the airport car park. The shortest term is day parking which costs around £5. Weekly parking costs £27, while a month of using the car park costs £52.

Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi and internet access facilities are not available at the airport.

The office of the airport's administration can be found in the terminal building. The airport is equipped with a flight information display system.
