Naval Air Station Key West is a military airport and naval air station situated on Boca Chica Key, the second to the last key or chain of islands jutting out from Florida towards the Caribbean. The naval air station is a pilot training facility operated by the US Navy. It is a private airport and permission is required for any aircraft to land here. US Route 1 actually passes through immediately north of the naval air station. This section is particularly scenic, taking in the beautiful seascape of the Florida Keys.
