Driving
The US drives on the right. Excellent roads and a reasonable standard of driving means experienced motorists shouldn’t encounter any problems driving here. A major hassle is Dallas’s heavy rush hour traffic, which totally blocks highways and arterial roads between 07:30 and 09:00 and 16:30 and 18:00. Most of the city is covered by intersecting freeways which may be confusing at first: care must be taken in noting your required exit. Petrol stations are found everywhere, with fuel much cheaper here than in the UK, and card payment is standard. Downtown Dallas has a plethora of off-street car parks close to most of the attractions and shopping districts. Seatbelts must be worn, a warning triangle should be carried and mobile phone usage without a hands-free kit is forbidden.
See our guide to the US for more information on driving here.
Transport options after you’re arrived are plentiful and include Trinity Railway Express trains, rapid transport bus services, a scheduled van shuttle service, taxis, hotel shuttles and charter buses.
