Aurora, referred to as 'The City of Lights', is the second largest city in Illinois. It has a population of more than 175,000 people. The city lies within four different counties: Dupage, Kane, Kendall, and Will. Kane County is where you will find the majority of Aurora's local's. This was implemented in 1881. The nickname, however, was not officially adopted until 1908.

The city of Aurora is home to a major Hindu temple called the 'Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple' and also Aurora University and the Mathematics and Science Academy.

For those who want to see nature, you can find many great animals at the Phillips Park Zoo. For those who love sightseeing, there are also many museums in the city that attract a lot of history buffs and art lovers. Many of these museums and other landmarks are located in the downtown area of Aurora. There is the Paramount Arts Centre, the Hollywood Casino and the Leland Tower.

Sports were once a big part of the Aurora pride. In the early twentieth century Aurora was home to the Islanders (also known as the Blue and the Foxes), a minor league baseball team. Now most of the sports are local, high school athletics.
