Car Hire
At just over eight miles from the centre of Turkey’s gateway to the Turkish Riviera, Antalya Airport is a conveniently located hub that deals with over 25 million passengers per year. In 2011, it was voted as the best airport in Europe and has been commended for its handling of huge volumes of passengers and its ample amenities. For drivers, there are plenty of companies offering car hire on site.
Who to Book With
Various suppliers of car hire have offices in Antalya Airport. Among them are National, Alamo, Europcar, Hertz, Budget and Ay-Tu. Avis can be found in Terminal 1 and Filo is located in Terminal 2.
Need to Know Essentials
You will need to show the following documents at vehicle collection:
- Driver’s licence (both parts)
- The credit card used to book the reservation
- A UK passport to confirm your ID
- Printed confirmation of booking
Driving
Turkish authorities rigorously enforce parking restrictions and those found breaking the law will be hit with an on-the-spot fine or might even have their vehicle towed away if it is left in an obstructing manner. Petrol stations generally accept credit cards but some outlets in the countryside might only take cash. A first-aid kit, a fire extinguisher and a warning triangle must all be carried in the vehicle. In towns and cities, using a horn after 22:00 is generally prohibited.

Transport
Passengers are able to self-drive from the airport to the city in order to reach their hotels. Those that don’t wish to do this can take a taxi or organise a pick-up by their hotel. It is also possible to take a bus or coach.
Taxis
A taxi from Antalya Airport to Antalya city centre costs around £15 during the day but slightly more in the evening. The journey takes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to complete depending on traffic. Providers include Transfer Taxi.

Buses
Havas buses are a cheaper option compared to taxis and usually depart on the hour. Public buses from Terminal-Otogar also leave on the hour and can cost as little as £0.60. Other buses and coaches are available from the domestic terminal with providers such as Ulusoy, Kamil Koc and Varan.

Terminals
Antalya Airport has three terminals that are connected by bus. Terminal 1 is the oldest and, alongside Terminal 2, it deals with international flights to destinations around Europe, the Middle East and selected hubs in Russia. The Domestic Terminal supplies transport to and from Turkish cities.
Parking
Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the Domestic Terminal have parking areas where vehicles are patrolled 24 hours by security guards. Parking at the Park and Fly car parks can cost as little as £10 per day.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is available in all arrivals and departures halls across the airport and the service is supplied by TTNET. In the VIP Terminal, the internet connection is provided free of charge. Via Pub, Via Café and Simit Sarayi all offer free internet access.

Antalya Airport prides itself on being an easy-access hub for those with reduced mobility. Ramps are commonplace or can be provided around the terminal and in the car parks. Personnel are also on hand to attend to the needs of passengers with reduced mobility.

Terminals 1 and 2 are home to restaurants such as Burger King, Sbarro and Popeye’s Chicken, which are familiar to Western passengers. Smaller cafés often serve alcoholic beverages alongside tea and coffee, as do Take Off and Via Café in the Domestic Terminal.

Money and ATMs
Garanti Bank has branches in all of the terminals and its ATMs, located in both Arrivals and Departures, can be used around-the-clock. ATMs are also provided by other banks and bureau de change companies. PTT Post Offices can be found opposite the Departures hall check-in counters in Terminal 1 and directly next to Terminal 2’s Garanti Bank branch.
Shopping
Shopping is available in all terminals and mostly comes in the form of duty-free outlets. Duty Free Express has the largest presence in the hub but is rivalled by Duty Free Store. Designer clothing can be purchased from Temptation in Terminal 1, where Turkish ID, Toys & Sweets and Style Studio are also situated. In Terminal 2, Suncatcher, Atelier, Turkish ID and Temptation are the main stores alongside the duty-free outlets.
