Western Cape Guide

Guide

Western Cape Province is where travellers will find most of South Africa’s tourist attractions and destinations. It straddles the coast of both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, with around 900kms of coastline. The iconic capital, Cape Town, is the country’s most visited city, while George is the oldest town and the starting point of the spectacular Garden Route drive.

Hiring a Vehicle

Famed suppliers such as 121, Argus and Sixt have locations in cities all over the province, including George and Paarl, and at Cape Town International Airport. This makes it easy to arrange car rental in Western Cape to explore the province. Compare car hire in advance to acquire the best rates.

Transport Options

Cape Town International Airport, found 20kms from the city, receives flights from major cities within South Africa as well as from other cities in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. High-speed trains run from Cape Town to most major cities in the country, and a commuter train connects the provincial capital to nearby towns and villages. There are Greyhound buses operating in Western Cape, and the N-1 and N-2 give road access to the rest of the country.
