Newlands is one of Cape Town's poshest suburbs. It sits at the foot of Table Mountain south of the city centre. It is especially accessible to drivers with car rental in Newlands, who can freely travel back and forth between the natural attractions of Table Mountain and Cape Town city centre.

Newlands attracts visitors with its thriving sports scene made up of Newlands Cricket Ground, Newlands Stadium and a smaller rugby arena. The famous cricket ground is one of the world's most beautiful as it lies in the shadow of Devil's Peak. Both the cricket and rugby stadiums are located between Sport Pienaar and Campground roads.

South of the cricket ground, the local railway station is an ideal place to arrange cheap car hire in Newlands. The line continues south through the Southern Suburbs all the way to the coast. Heading north, it provides access to Cape Town city centre.

There are two major roads passing through the area, both of which connect the Southern Suburbs to the Cape Town city centre. Rhodes Drive (M3) is more prominent and passes to the west, while the lesser Kromboom Parkway passes to the east. Both are accessible to drivers with car hire in Newlands.

Capetown International Airport is the most likely port of entry for visitors in Newlands, and it's easy to drive from the terminal to the suburb by hire car. There are several routes, and while heading north to Settlers Way before turning east is a longer route (10 miles), it is also the fastest (under 20 minutes).
