From the downtown Johannesburg area, Lanseria is about 35kms to the northwest, situated in the rural lands of Johannesburg. As previously mentioned, Lanseria's airport is the busiest in Africa, not by passenger intake, but by the number of landings and take-offs are turned over every day. This is mainly due to smaller aircraft operating from the airport.

With just a short drive using car hire in Lanseria, visitors will arrive at some of Johannesburg's most delightful country guesthouses, inns and lodgings. Many tourists opt to stay in Lanseria because it is relatively close to Johannesburg, yet provides a rural escape from the hectic landscape of downtown Jo'burg.
