I phoned to change the

I phoned to change the time for pick up and return of the car. It was not a good experience. I was told I could not do it and encouraged to book an up grade. I wanted to change my booking and return by 4 hours from 10.00am to 2.oo pm. I was told it was not possible to change it. I was told a car would not be available. I said I would take the risk and ended up in cancelling my booking and then re booking on line. Not helpful. I almost did not use your site to re book.

Honaira is the capital of the Solomon Islands and Guadalcanal Province. The islands, which stretch from the Shortland Islands to the Santa Cruz Islands are known as the 'Pacific Rim of Fire'. Honaira International Airport serves the capital city's 49,107 inhabitants and can be found 10km from Honaira. Just 4,500 visitors are said to visit the Solomon Islands each year, mainly drawn by its fantastic diving opportunities.

While public transportation and taxis are available in Honiara downtown, they can be time consuming and expensive. Many visitors to this picturesque harbor town opt to book car hire for the duration of their visit here. In Honiara downtown, you can book car hire from: PO Box R8.

In the town centre, you will find the Tourist Information Centre on Mendana Avenue. It is located between the Point Cruz Yacht Club and Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel. The Yacht Club and nearby Guadalcanal Club arrange regular events and welcome overseas guests. Honiara Casino is one of several gambling houses within the town and can be found near the harbour.

A number of shops and services can be found in Honiara downtown. These include: gift shops, banks, post office and duty-free shops. Markets are held regularly which will allow you the chance to purchase handcrafted baskets and other souvenirs of your trip.

Many seafood restaurants can be found in this area, such as the Coconut Crab and Lobster. Other restaurants in the area offer international cuisines, including Chinese, Thai and Italian.

In your car hire, you can visit Honiara's Chinatown district. Located near Matanikau Bridge, this area is a hive of activity. Its main road is lined with colonial-style buildings which house stores. Driving to nearby Rove Prison on the outskirts of Honiara will allow you the chance to explore the capital's beautiful Botanical Gardens.

What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

What kind of insurance is applicable to my car rental?

In general, Liability Insurance, Fire Insurance, All-Risks Insurance and Theft Insurance are included in the cost of your rental car.
