Colon Guide

The city is highly urban and is best known for its high violent crime rate. You may wonder where the attraction to the city lies for tourists. Well, while Panama's second largest city has a notorious reputation it provides fantastic access to one of the country's most underdeveloped and inaccessible provinces: Colon.

When exploring this province, car hire is essential. It enables your party to travel safely and independently in air conditioned comfort. Within Colon City, car hire can be found at: Plaza Colon 2000. Colon 2000 is a modern cruise port and duty-free shopping complex.

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.
