This is the first time

The Abraham Gonzalez Airport is located near Juarez, Mexico. It is also called Ciudad Juarez Intl. The airport is operated by the Mexican Civil Government. This airport has two major runways that are both asphalt paved. The runways are distinguished by the numbers 3/21 and 14/32. Each runway is different in takeoff and landing distance. Runway 3 is the larger of the two runways, with a takeoff distance of 9,048 feet and a landing distance of 8,858 feet. United States military aircraft often land at this airport. It is required of these aircraft to be cleared by the Defense Attche Office prior to landing.

The Abraham Gonzalez Airport does not authorize any aircraft weighing more than 66,000 pounds. Any aircraft that weights more than 44,000 pounds are required to make a turn of 180 degrees at the turnaround areas at the end of the runway. The international airport accepts international and national air traffic. It is situated across the border from El Paso, Texas. This location is one of the reasons for the high amount of U.S. military air traffic.

The national and international airlines that frequent the Abraham Gonzalez Airport include Aero California, Aeromexico, Aviacsa, Interjet, Viva Aerobus and Volaris. This is a civil and public International airport with an elevation of 3,904 feet. The airport has a great history for safety. The has only been one reported accident, which occurred on September 6, 2001. Luckily, no-one was killed in this incident. The engines on the aircraft failed after departure from the Abraham Gonzalez Airport.

Though this is a small airport servicing Juarez and surrounding cities, it has a high volume of traffic and has very few delays. The majority of outgoing and incoming flights depart and arrive on schedule. Visitors should know that the airport does not allow a city taxi to pick up passengers, but they can drop passengers off.
