Located just outside of its capital Naha, Okinawa Airport provides air service to Okinawa Island. At present, Okinawa may only be reached by ferry or air connection. With some ferry services only taking place once a week and occasionally lasting as long as 44 hours, it is little wonder that air travel is the most popular transport method.

Okinawa Airport (Naha Airport) offers domestic air connections to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, Osaka's Itami and Kansai Airport, Sapporo's New Chitrose Airport and many others. Airlines operating from the Okinawa include: JAL; ANA and Skymark.

International flights to other parts of Asia can be found from the terminal including regularly scheduled trips to China, Korea and the Philippines.

Within the airport, public transportation is available, however this is only truly useful for those restricting their travel in Okinawa Island to Naha only. From the airport Yui monorail service connects the terminal with the heart of Naha.

Apart from this, transportation on Okinawa is restricted solely to buses. While they are plentiful, it can limit your travel. The network can also be very complicated to the visitor.
