Kushiro is located on the east coast of Hokkaido, a place where the urban and the natural have been blended together seamlessly. Kushiro is a well known fishing port with excellent seafood. It is also a place with an array of beautiful sights, and its only a 90 minute flight from Tokyo.

One of the best known sights in the Kushiro area is the Kushiro Marsh Land National Park. This park is a restoration project that seeks to preserve and restore nature as it was thousands of years ago.

In addition to the marsh land there are numerous other sights in the Kushiro area. Among these is the Nusamai Bridge. This bridge spans the Old Kushiro Bridge. On the bridge is the famous Statue of Four Seasons.

There is also the Kushiro Wasyou fish market. Here tourists can see the handling and processing of fresh seafood as it arrives. They can even purchase some for themselves. There is also Yonemachi Park, where the Yonemachi Furusato Kan is located, the oldest existing house in the Kushiro area.
