I phoned to change the

I phoned to change the time for pick up and return of the car. It was not a good experience. I was told I could not do it and encouraged to book an up grade. I wanted to change my booking and return by 4 hours from 10.00am to 2.oo pm. I was told it was not possible to change it. I was told a car would not be available. I said I would take the risk and ended up in cancelling my booking and then re booking on line. Not helpful. I almost did not use your site to re book.

Flying into Tahiti's Papeete Airport? This medium-sized airport is the perfect way to begin or end your stay in the French Polynesian Islands as, unlike its European or American counterparts, inspires relaxation.

Flights are well-planned, so the airport never becomes overly crowded. However while waiting to board or after arriving here, there are many shops to browse while waiting. A flower shop, financial services, gift boutiques and car hire are available in the terminal.

Before leaving the airport, be sure to stop off at the Fare Hei, which is located 100 feet in front of the terminal. This market offers an array of Tahiti's traditional, brightly-coloured handcrafts, many of which are for sale. Items such as shell necklaces, leis and trinkets can be purchased here.

Papeete Airport does not allow tour operators or hotels to offer airport transfers. To reach your accommodation, you have three choices. Taxis can be found at a rank outside the airport. However, these can be an expensive option. Those staying 3 miles away in Papeete should expect a fare of $10. Elsewhere on the island could be as much as $30.

The island's Le-Truck service costs approximately $1.30, however services can be limited. Car hire can be found in the terminal and offers an easy way of reaching your hotel, whether it is in Tahiti's capital, Papeete, nearby Arue or even on the south coast.

Using a car hire during your stay on the island is highly recommended. While many hotels offer this service, arranging it at the airport will save you paying the hotel's fee. It will allow you freedom and mobility during your stay on this beautiful island. While the Le-Truck service provides inexpensive transportation throughout Tahiti-Nua, it can hinder your independence while traveling.
