Sonsonate Guide

Sonsonate is actually a city, which is the capital of the Sonsonate Maritime department. It is located sixty-four kilometres towards the west of city San Salvador. This city was originated in the year 1524 by a Spanish master called Pedro De Alvarado. It has a population of around 500,000 people who are settled across the belt of 1,226 kilometers. Sonsonate was the second capital of Central America in the year 1834.

Sonsonate is one of oldest colonization's you can find in today's modern world, though the city is well developed with futuristic buildings, still when you visit this city you will be taken back to the colonial era. The city is also popularly called as Place of waters as it is blessed with good rainfall throughout the year. Sonsonate is more of an agricultural city; you will find pleasing green lushes all over the city. They are known to produce, tropical fruits, sugar cane, balsam, tobacco and coffee.
